The cultural architect
CHARTERED ARCHITECT. CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION STRATEGIST.
IRIE™ SYSTEM ARCHITECT.
I have spent over 25 years inside the built environment — as a practising architect, as RIBA London Director, and now as the creator of IRIE™. I help leaders and teams make culture visible, so they can transform it with intention.
“I came into this world with one eye closed… The medical term is strabismus amblyopia, but I call it my IRIE Eye. Growing up, that difference taught me to see the things others often miss — patterns, undercurrents, tensions, and unspoken dynamics. It was the thing I was most embarrasSed of...
now, it’s my identity strength that makes me most useful”
The IRIE Eye
A PERCEPTIVE LENS THAT REVEALS THE INVISIBLE SYSTEMS SHAPING HOW WE WORK, COLLABORATE, AND CREATE.
badges and receipts
When I was a Brownie, I collected badges with real pride — not for the patch, but for what it meant: learnings you could earn and carry forward. I was a Pixie, too — always helping.
Today, my "badges" are my professional qualifications and certifications. They underpin work that is ethically grounded, professionally aligned, and designed specifically for the built environment — and they support my mission to make culture visible, measurable, and workable.
My motto has evolved too: from “Lend a Hand” to … LIVING IRIE
-
I trained as an architect at Birmingham University and practised for over twenty years — across the UK and the Caribbean.
I know how architecture is actually built. How it is procured. How decisions get made under pressure, inside studio hierarchies, inside the gap between the drawings and what ends up on site.
That experience is not decoration. It is the foundation of everything IRIE™ is built on.
You cannot read a culture you have never inhabited.
